Innovation

Based on what we know and use today, we build on innovation that relates to new responses to pressing social demand. It’s in our DNA to strive to provide pioneering technological solutions that contribute to society and drive change.

Creations from our R&D laboratories

First-generation products

We do conventional drying, crushing, grinding and classification processes for absorbents, adsorbents and/or carrier development.

Second-generation products

We improve micronisation processes for the development of fillers and rheological additives for aqueous systems.

Third-generation products

We provide organic surface treatments for the development of rheological additives for solvent systems.

Fourth-generation products

These are synergistic combinations of clays and additives for the production of improved rheological modifiers and absorbents.

Fifth-generation products

We provide chemical structure modification for the development of fibrous silicas and sepiolites with high cation exchange capacity.

Sixth-generation products

Our nano-structured materials made from sepiolite. These are nano-dispersible additives for polymers and functional additives.

Our innovative culture

  • At Tolsa, we drive innovation from within. We encourage all employees to bring new ideas to the table, whatever their position is or the location they're in. This is our spirit, our way of making small ideas great.

  • Our curiosity leads us to question how we do things and consider all the technological innovations we could use to improve our processes and work in general. Digital transformation is crucial for us.

We also foster multidisciplinary collaboration. We promote diversity to guarantee multiple perspectives are taken into account in every project.

  • We are constantly developing and launching new products on the market. In addition, our team of experts works every day to develop applications that can benefit from the properties of our raw materials to anticipate future needs through new business opportunities.

  • Our goal is to help our customers be more competitive while providing products that are sustainable, technological and environmentally friendly. Optimising our value chain by including new suppliers and customers is a crucial aspect of our activity. We are constantly developing and launching new products.

In addition, our experts work every day to develop applications that can benefit from the properties of our raw materials to anticipate future needs through new business opportunities.

  • We are pioneers in the research and development of mineral applications, and our technical service is built on knowledge-sharing. As a result of our collaborative spirit we get to partner with research centres, universities, startups and big corporations.

Our technology

Leading edge technology at your disposal

Biomaterials

Where chemistry and biology meet. These are macromolecules made up of living beings, polymeric biomolecules. We apply science and engineering principles to treat organic and inorganic materials by biological systems to produce goods and services.

Circularity

It's time to rethink how we consume. Today, most products are designed within a linear life cycle. This means that once they're used, they are tossed. We need to consider reusing and recycling our current resources to protect the environment.

Micronization

The study of micronization processes makes it possible to foresee, control and modify the size of the minerals that we need to use.

Functionalisation

We have developed various innovative techniques for designing and preparing mineral materials that can provide a specific function in the products in which they are included.

Hybridisation

We continually study new ways to prepare special hybrid clays that have their own functionality or provide functionality to the final material.

Technological architecture

Technological architecture based on inorganic chemistry attempts to solve the current and most serious global problems: energy, raw materials, pollution, demography, hunger and diseases in the world. We are applying scientific knowledge to improve the use of available resources.

Research Lines

  • We carry out projects related to absorption to develop different applications: oil treatment and water treatment, elimination of toxins.

  • We study special clays for rheological control in construction, paper, animal feed, paints and sludge industries, among others.

  • We continually study techniques for designing and developing special hybrid clays that have their own function or provide specific functionality to the material that contains them.

  • We research and fine-tune processing technologies so that they are efficient both in terms of energy and product.

  • We research new mineral materials not only to invest in new applications but to improve existing ones.
